No banana stories but I have some orange stories. I was on my way down the temple near my neighbourhood. The temple is very serene, located up above the hills of my hometown.
After some community work, I was given 6 packets of mandarin oranges packed in translucent plastic bags. I hugged all them and brought it down through the stairs. I walked up & down the stairs for the past 20 years (most probably many more years to come). Nothing came close to what I experienced last weekend.
I saw a few groups of monkeys jumping around from trees to trees. I thought they were playing around. I didn’t pay much attention either & continued walking down. Upon reaching the ‘middle station’, more & more groups appeared to come out from trees behind, beside & in front of me. They were unlike the ones that I saw in Botanical Garden. At that moment, I really started thinking, what did I do? Oh no. The oranges! They can be seen by them. Great. Simply marvelous. I have nothing for self defense except to throw the oranges to them which is the last thing I will do. I guessed I will fight all out for it but I knew I was outnumbered. No point going against the tide.

Worth hugging for
They pretty much grouped around & sat on the stairs about 5 meters away from where I was standing. Some were hanging around the trees and some were sitting on the awning. They have one thing in common though. All were looking at me. The ‘lead’ has made some wild calls to their troop. Could be “On my count, let’s rob that idiot!”.
Nevertheless, I braved myself to walk in between them. Lucky thing, they didn’t start their attack. I unlocked my car with the remote control & went in. That’s when I felt relieved. The monkeys were still looking at me perhaps regretted they didn’t rob me earlier on.
Next time, monkeys!

[...] Monkeys On The Run Next up, the monkey business. Remember my last post about monkeys? Well, well. Seems like they managed to track me down without any high tech devices. [...]
